I have come into this world to see this:   

the sword drop from men's  hands even at the height of their arc of anger  

because we have finally realized there is just one flesh to wound

and it is His - the Christ's, our Beloved's.

Dire Straits - Iron Hand

Dire Straits were an English rock band, formed in 1977 by Mark Knopfler, David Knopfler, John Illsey and Pick Withers. This amazing song Iron Hand was released on the album On every street in 1991. It relates to the Battle of Orgreave during the UK miners' strike.

Lotte Reiniger's 117th birthday - Google Doodle

Lotte Reiniger, the German film-maker who brought a European slant to the traditionally Asian art of silhouette puppetry, would have been 117 today.



Born in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin in 1899, Reiniger started experimenting with shadow puppet productions while still at school, making her silhouettes act out scenes from Shakespeare to entertain her schoolmates.
