Spiritual Awakening
Are You Experiencing A Spiritual Awakening?

When it comes to awakening spiritually, as is the case with most spiritual experiences, it is almost impossible to fully describe what it means with words.

Because spiritual experiences are, according to their very nature not logical, or confined by the limitations of language.

Much of what transpires as you spiritually awaken cannot be seen, or accurately described, but rather can only be felt, lived through, witnessed and experienced.

So What Does It Mean to Have a Spiritual Awakening?

Some describe awakening as the moment you open your heart to God and allow in a new level of light and begin to see and experience a deeper understanding of what life really is.

Others would say it’s the moment that you drop your stories, past conditioning, and limiting beliefs allowing you to begin to experience firsthand the answer to the question, “Who am I?”

No matter what words are used, spiritual awakening is a moment of transcendence and, with awareness, this moment can stretch out, touching all areas of your life.

Awakening spiritually changes the way you move through the world, and allows an inner sense of peace and stillness to govern your actions and reactions.

Before you wake up, life appears to be a series of coincidences, or a series of events that you have a hand in orchestrating. It feels like life is something you can exert your will upon in order to influence.

Before awakening, although you may have heard it before, it’s often difficult to understand that everything that happens in life unfolds perfectly as it should. Our tendency is to believe that bad things happened to us and good things happened because of us.

But when you begin to awakening, applying little presence to your life and your universal experience as a human being, you start to understand and, more importantly, feel a flow to life.

Your presence allows you to relax and recognize that you are always tapped in to the Divine energy of the universe. Your coincidence stops feeling random and your intuition will become stronger.

Though different for all, a spiritual awakening takes only a moment.

Spiritual awakening is the moment when you are ready and willing to detach from your ego and the small you, who is scared and confused, is understood as not you.

Fortunately, these moments are powerful and transforming, and this shift in understanding can last just that one moment, a few hours, or days.

Unfortunately, for some, it’s a moment that you must learn to stabilize in order to live in this state of transcendence. There are of course many tools to help you progress on your spiritual path.

It’s not that it requires effort or work or practice. Spiritual awakening is open to anyone ready to let go of false beliefs – whether it takes years to get to that point or one impactful moment. What is required to stabilize this transcendence is repeatedly returning to presence; to quiet your mind, and tune into your heart center.

Spiritual awakening is a beautiful experience, but it can also feel like a roller coaster at times, as you bounce between depressed states, elated states, and stable states.

To help shed some light on this process, here’s a look on the stages most people progress through on the path of spiritual awakening.

4 Stages of Spiritual Awakening

Stage One: The Wake-Up Call

Spiritual Awakening StagesThe spiritual wake-up call comes in many forms. The most commonly understood is the experience of loss, crisis, or some other tragedy. Whether it’s death, financial hardship, an accident or injury, divorce, a natural disaster, or poor health, this wake-up call is always unexpected and immobilizing.

In the face of crisis you may stop functioning normally and go into survival mode, often unable to think about anything but the crisis. You’re unable to absorb what is happening, and feel deeply challenged. This type of wake-up call is often called “the dark night of the soul”.

The wake-up call can also be a prolonged period of frustration with life. It’s an ineffable sensation that something is missing. Something big.

The call can also be a moment of recognition or remembering. Things become clearer and begin to flow more easily and we gain a sense of purpose. This can come from a conversation, a book, a spiritual practice, or a surprise event.

However the spiritual wake-up call reaches you, it catapults you into a phase of learning, seeking, and discovery. When it happens you suddenly need to know, understand, and experience more of what you’ve begun tapping into. You want to read about, talk about it, and feel it more deeply. The more time passes the more urgent becomes your need to understand and integrate what is happening.

Stage Two: Creation

Eventually, through your questing for more information and more experiences you reach a point when you realize that the full extent of what you’re seeking can’t be found in books or even through spiritual teachers.

You realize, that what you’re seeking, and yearning for is something that you can only find within.

If you’re recovering from a crisis or loss, you begin to feel that, just maybe, there was a gift there for you. You start to see the silver lining and understand your dark night of the soul was a sort of gift, seeking to pull you up into something higher.

That gift first manifests as the ability to see the beauty and grace of the universe as it unfolds in your life. Often, you have to look back on something to see how it helped us, but in the creation stage you are merging more and more with the flow and the ability to see the perfection in all things; your need to label things as right and wrong, good and bad decreases.

It’s now that you begin to experience more presence and synchronicity. It’s not that suffering ceases. You may still get mad when your kids leave a mess in the kitchen or you may feel impatient in the check-out line at the grocery store, but you’re also learning to stop identifying with these feelings, to shift back into the perspective of the observer, and to stay in your center, confident that all is unfolding as it should.

Stage Three: Connection

Returning again and again to presence, you begin to experience that who and what you thought you were, you aren’t. This is a time of both duality and unity. You can see that your thoughts and feelings come and go, your reactions come and go, but something essential is always present.

You can identify with your thoughts and feelings or you can step back and see that you are actually not what you’re thinking and feeling. You are timeless. You are always present, you don’t come and go. You are firmly grounded in your connection to your higher self, the realms of Spirit, and God.

Things stop becoming obstacles and start becoming simple events that come in to your field of awareness and then leave. Rather than becoming submerged in challenging emotions and experiences you’re able to simply observe these as appearances in your inner world or in the outside world around you.

It’s not a robotic state. Thinking and feeling continue on. You love, you laugh, you roll your eyes, but you know that you are more than all these things. You identify more with your higher self. In such a state, you become calmer, happier, and more centered.

Stage Four: Integrating Your Truth

In this stage the experience of who you really are is more stabilized and constant. You identify less and less as people with problems to solve and more as spiritual beings experiencing problems – that aren’t really problems but just something that is happening.

This is a time of great joy because you are so connected with God, and the entire Universe. It is clear that you are one with everyone and everything, deeply connected and interwoven with all of life.

In this stage, the people in your life may begin to notice vibrancy and peace on your face. You are still the same person you were before, but you’re also someone entirely new because your understanding is so much greater.

You have finally have learned to reside in our heart instead of our head.

Spiritual Awakening PathThough it’s difficult to describe spiritual awakening, people tend to know when it’s happening to them.

Do you feel like you’re going through a spiritual awakening?

Then you likely are…

You may have a dark night of the soul that precedes it, or it may happen in a flash.

But one thing is certain, when you’re waking up spiritually, you sense it. You feel a little bit different and you aren’t sure whether to push forward or retreat.

Know that you are not strange, and you are not alone. You are where you are supposed to be, and as you continue to access the inner light and wisdom you’ve always had, and you’re simply now learning how to tap into… Life will begin to take on an even more magical feel.

Awakening spiritually is not an easy path, but it is filled with blessings, magic, and opportunities to live with greater love, joy, and fulfillment than ever before.

Spiritual awakening is aligning with the knowing of your highest purpose, and bringing yourself into alignment with it here and now.

But of course, it happens one step at a time. And so be gentle with yourself, honor where you are, and stay positive about where you’re headed.

When you doubt, sit still, quiet your mind, open your heart and connect with your angels, they will help you to access the brilliant light and wisdom you carry within.

Be filled with the knowing that everything is happening as it should.

With love and light.
