The drama "Synonyms" about a young Israeli has surprisingly won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale. Director Nadav Lapid tells the story of a man who wants to leave behind his Israeli roots in Paris.
"Synonyms" is about the young Yoav (Tom Mercier) from Tel Aviv, who wants to leave his past behind. He moves to Paris and learns French because he does not want to speak Hebrew anymore. The story is based on Nadav Lapid's own biography.
