 stern Tibet were violently suppressed by the Chinese authorities. Prot
 ests started when a young monk named Phuntsok from Kirti Monastery set
  himself on fire, marking  the third anniversary of events in 2008 wh
 en at least 10 Tibetans were shot dead after demonstrations began.In r
 ecent days further protests have taken place in Tibet and reports that
  \"dozens of Tibetans\" have been detained following protests during w
 hich they shouted slogans including \"Free Tibet,\" \"Invite Dalai Lam
 a to Tibet\" and \"Independence for Tibet\".\nThis is happening while 
 the Chinese government are in the midst of the worst crackdown on free
  speech in at least a decade. With the world’s  attention on the up
 risings in the Middle East, China is clamping down on lawyers, activis
 ts, netizens, and artist, including the well-known Ai Weiwei who has n
