Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr visited the Gandhi family in India in 1959, and he went on to dedicate himself to the principles of non-violence

On August 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, he delivered one of the greatest speeches of the 20th century to over two hundred and fifty thousand civil rights supporters;

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

At a fundamental level, as human beings, we are all the same; each one of us aspires to happiness and each one of us does not wish to suffer. This is why, whenever I have the opportunity, I try to draw people's attention to what as members of the human family we have in common and the deeply interconnected nature of our existence and welfare.

America, the richest and most powerful nation in the world, can well lead the way in this revolution of values. There is nothing, except a tragic death wish, to prevent us from reordering our priorities, so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war.  (MLK)

44 years later, where are our priorities?

...A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.

Are we there yet?

I have a dream that one day people with disabilities will be fully treated as equals with people who are able-bodied.
