If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace... you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

If you woke up this morning with good health you are more fortunate than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle unfolding all around you, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... you are ahead 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of persecution, harassment, arrest, torture, or death... you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If your parents are still alive and still married...you are very rare, even in the United States.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

After Christmas

Downstairs in stuffy rooms,

the debris and chaos of yesterday.

Open windows, embrace the air,

cool, refreshing, cleansing.

So that was Christmas, I’m tired

it’s  done for another year.

All the preparation, the food,

decorations, tinsel and cards

the frantic bundle of one-day splendour,

oh and midnight mass, of course

beautiful, most sleepy.

The young man slept on a pile of rags

his only things to call his own

the rain wetting him as he slept

on a bench beside the park

with litter blowing by.

Someone said it was Christmas

as he hurried by on the other side,

and a man of God wished him

a Happy Christmas

and a prosperous New Year.

He slept on regardless, unwanted.

He had tried to go church,

but the warden, politely mind you

had advised him on dress,

and suggested he go away.

The Salvation Army had fed him,

hot soup and a roll,

but their beds were full;

so he just slept on in the rain.

And so that man, with his scars

on hands, side and feet, listened

to the late song of the church

where he was unwelcome.

“Caste out our sin, and enter in

be born in us today…

Oh come to us, abide with us,

Our Lord Emmanuel.”

He had come,

but there was still no room

in the Inn

of our hearts.

Jesus Christ challenged us with his teachings. I cant imagine the strength it would take for him to be tortured the way he was, and still have love for his persecutors. 

We are indeed fortunate that High Souls come to teach us universal principles and show us the way.

Here's wishing all our group a happy and peace filled Christmas.

It is a fragment from a small altarpiece showing the Adoration of the Magi. Originally, the star was shown above the tiled roof of the stable. The fur-lined hat worn by the magus in pink was inspired by the visit to Siena in 1432 of King Sigismund of Hungary. The picture may date about 1433–35.
