Saint Sketch - Anandamayi Ma - Last Part

Dear All,

Ma accepted all faiths as paths leading to the Lord. Once, during a kirtan she walked out in trance to the mazhar of a Fakir [Muslim Saint]. The Muslim caretaker accompanied her on her return home and participated in the Kirtan and even fed Ma with a piece of candy. …

If we have a complicated mind, which thinks too much about certain things unnecessarily, our attention may be led towards the obstacles, problems, upsets and the things we worry about from a critical and negative viewpoint. By paying more attention to…

In the ancient times, sages who lived in the forest used to carry a Kamandalu (a small pitcher) filled with water). Many paintings that depict these sages too show this. Even today many who perform Japa (chanting of divine names or incantations) or meditation are seen to be carrying a kamandalu with water.

What is the purpose and significance of carrying this pitcher filled with water?

Everyone is aware that water is a cleanser. It is used for… Continue

Weekly blossom - Mother is verily god, Father is verily god, Master is verily god, the Guest is verily God - The Paraodoxical Qualification - Part 1

Dear All,

Mother is verily god, Father is verily god, Master is verily god, the Guest is verily God is the clarion call of our Upanishads!

(“Maatru devo bhava, Pitru devo bhava, Aachaarya devo bhava, Atithi devo bhava” in Sanskrit language terms)

Those who are in the southern states of India , especially Tamil Nadu, would be very familiar with a proverb: “Mata, Pita, Guru, Deivam” – Mother, Father, Master and God!

It is similar to the Vedic injunction… Continue

This is universally accepted tenet enshrined in our Sanatana Dharma. This implies that a present comfortable life is only the result of past merits.

Who or what decides if a particular act is a merit or a sin?

The Scriptures! Only the Scriptures should be taken as the basis to determine what merit is…

Mind - the creeper . How to control It?... By Sri Sri.Muralidhara Swamiji

Dear All,

The mind is like a tiny creeper within our hearts. Just as a creeper needs some hold, onto which it entwines itself, the mind too needs an object to hold on to.

Though a creeper has no eyes, it surprisingly reaches a nearby staff or tree and entwines it by itself. Similarly, the mind reaches out from our hearts through the senses, and clings on to various objects of the senses. For instance, the mind slowly peeps out through the ears and clings on to a…
