A common space for harmonic peacemakers
This Sunday is Losar, the Tibetan New Year, and according to the Tibetan lunar calendar, the first day of the Wood Horse Year 2141. The entire Students for a Free Tibet team wishes you and your loved ones Losar Tashi Delek, auspicious greetings for the new year.
As Tibetans around the world gather together with family and friends to mark this major occasion, many of us feel that the Tibetan cause is at a crossroads. In the last year, Tibetans inside Tibet have taken unprecedented actions to demand their freedom – from acts of civil disobedience like refusing to raise the Chinese flag to lighting themselves on fire, the ultimate symbol of the severity of China's human rights violations in Tibet.
As we reflect on the suffering and sacrifice of the last year, we also celebrate the incredible strength and enduring spirit of the Tibetan people. And we look forward to a new year – one where we will recommit ourselves to fulfilling our mission of a free Tibet.
Losar is a time to focus on new beginnings and great achievements. I hope you will continue to help SFT bring a brighter future to Tibet by supporting our efforts to empower, mentor and train young Tibetans and students around the world to work for positive change:
May the Wood Horse Year, like the Tibetan lungta 'wind-horse', swiftly carry our prayers for the well-being of all living beings on its back and deliver change and peace in Tibet.
In hope and solidarity,
TenDolkar, Pema, Dorjee Tseten, Padma, Urgyen, Tsepa and all of us at SFT International
and all Tibet supporters and friends, from us at the Peace for the Soul Network.
Losar Tashi Delek!
Happy Losar 2141!
