Peace for the Soul

A common space for harmonic peacemakers

We have already published many photos of Mihaela here on the site. So I also want to share her message to us with all of you.

That’s me and my daughter Natalia. In her first two years of life, before the pandemic, we have travelled together to almost 30 countries so mummy could take photos for The Atlas of Beauty.

Lately, because of the pandemic, but also because I’ve been to more and more challenging destinations, I had to leave her home. In the last few months I’ve been to countries like Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, but nothing felt more challenging than being away from her.

In the last months I cried more than in my entire life, because of missing her. Now I’m home, next to her, and I simply feel that I can’t travel without her anymore. In the same time I feel that The Atlas of Beauty is the project of my life and I want to work on it for the rest of my life.

So from now on I plan to travel with her again. It’s gonna be much more expensive, much more challenging, I’ll need to avoid certain destinations, but Natalia, my love, will be next to me.

Female photographer Mihaela Noroc travels and captures the natural beauty around the world showing the diversity of our planet through portraits of women.

The Atlas Of Beauty is a project about our planet’s diversity shown through portraits of women. I'm a Romanian photographer and since almost 3 years ago, I travel around the world with my backpack and my camera. In this journey I photograph natural women surrounded by their environment. Until now I visited more than 50 countries.

Today The Atlas of Beauty is one of the most popular photo projects in the world. It has strong communities on Facebook and Instagram while its Tumblr blog was the third most viral in 2015. When I started the project in 2013 I didn’t imagine that 3 years later I will talk about it live, on CNN, or on Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday.

BBC, The Guardian, TIME, Huffington Post, Business Insider, Forbes, Spiegel, Corriere della Sera are just a few other media outlets that featured the project and showed my photos to the world.

Through my photography I want to capture that feeling of warmth and serenity which comes from the eyes of a woman and can balance sometimes the negativity we see in the media.

Many people from all around the world face discrimination just because they have a certain color, religion, ethnicity or because they are women. I think beauty is diversity and it can teach us to be more tolerant.

My goal is to continue for many years and capture beauty in all countries of the globe, if possible, making this Atlas an inspiration for all women that try to be themselves, natural and authentic

there are wonderful photo books by her...
