A common space for harmonic peacemakers
Chapter 6, Verse 43
"There they will begin their new lives
With the spiritual discernment
Of their former lives,
Striving again,
Ever onwards
Towards Emancipation.
Swami Shivananda:
When they take a human body again in this world, their previous exertion and practice of are not at all wasted. They will bear full fruit in the present birth, hastening their evolution. Thoughts and actions are left in the subconscious mind in the form of subtle impressions. Experiences in the form of these impressions, habits, and tendencies are also stored in the subconscious mind. These impressions of the present and past births will be re-vivified and re-energized in the next birth. The impressions of Yogic practices and Yogic tendencies will usher them forward to strive with even greater vigor than in their former births.
Paramahansa Yogananda:
When the seeds of good Karma are watered by remembrance of God and by the vibrations of a positive environment in a new life, they sprout forth and grow into the Infinite Tree of Liberation. Stored-up desires and experiences tending towards Liberation are the great forces impelling us to climb the Tree.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi:
Suppose that a cloth needs to be dipped a hundred times in dye before it is fully colored. Let us say that after a fresh piece of cloth has been dipped ten times, the factory closes for the day. The next day, things proceed from the eleventh dipping. When people begin to meditate, a space of spacious awareness starts to grow into the nature of their minds. If, after a certain amount of infusion, they stop the practice in this life, or if their bodies perish, whenever they the practice, they will do so at the level of purity of consciousness experienced in their former practice.
Baba Hari Dass:
Vrittis (thought-waves) become the field for the growth of Karma and also Karmashaya (the reservoir of the impressions of thought and action). Samskaras (impressions) from experience and Vrittis from mental activity are deposited in a part of the mind-field (Karmashaya). Vrittis create Samskaras and Samskaras create Vrittis in a continuing cycle. Here are two examples: engaging in gambling will create the inclination to; the practice of Samadhi will create the tendency to achieve higher Samadhi.
