The border violators - the murder of Juliano Mer Khamis

By Andrea Böhm 5th April 2011 at 19:36

In the Arab awakening, which is fermented so many years, dogmas are destroyed, broken chains, transgress limits. make it possible to art, inconceivable and unheard of, has a little as well understood as Juliano Mer Khamis, an Israeli actor, director, head of the Freedom Theatre in Jenin in the West Bank. If theater has a subversive in these times of explosive force, then in this Palestinian refugee camp where injured alone the fact limits that girls and boys, women and men, an Israeli director, together with Palestinian student actors were rehearsing. Where every performance, whether Orwell's "Animal Farm" and "Fragments of Palestine" a challenge to ideological hard-liners - whether by Israeli or Palestinian side. Juliano Mer Khamis was on Monday shot dead outside his theater of assassins. One had threatened him, the son of a Jewish mother and a Palestinian father, a long time. But the perpetrators will probably have to know why they slammed now: In these times, as in Arab countries, the generation loses the boys' fear, the voice of Mer Khamis in the West Bank would bring even more, as it has already effected already. He was 53 years old.
It was his mother, Arna, which provided in the 80's a theater project with refugee children in Jenin on the legs. Years later, some of them blew up as suicide bombers in the air and tore others to their deaths. Some were shot during the second intifada, the Israeli army. Such Resumes portrayed Mer Khamis 2004 in his documentary "Arna's Children". Since he already had a life of radical identity breaks behind him as an elite soldier in the Israeli army, a prison inmate and a half years sentenced because he had knocked down an officer, as a celebrated actor in Israel, which refuses one evening to perform in front of an audience full of soldiers . In 2006 he went to Jenin, and build the "Freedom Theatre" on. Finally, even with his supporters is the former leader of the Al-Aqsa Brigades in the camp. For the custodians of the Palestinian martyr cult, it could hardly be a more dangerous man than this theater director.

The "Freedom Theatre" has long-standing partner in Germany - including medico international and the Berlin stage. In Memory of Juliano Mer Khamis, the stage is scheduled for 8 and 10 April in Berlin shows including his documentary "Arna's Children".

BLESSINGS WITH LOVE.......PEACE
The assassination of Juliano Mer-Khamis is a terrible tragedy for both Israelis and Palestinians who value peace and appreciate the dedication of this remarkable actor who embodied both Israel and Palestine in his physical being. He had tremendous passion for the Freedom Theatre that his late mother Arna had established. He had incredible vision in his belief to carry on his mother's work to true fruition of peace which both peoples need so urgently. It is sad that he met his death by 5 shots of a pistol whose trigger was pulled by a Palestinian murderer who obviously had a problem with Jule's dedication to the Palestinian cause.

Thanks +++ for sharing this intersting informations, Bob.
When my son was young we were used to play cooperative games : all players play together to attempt a commun goal (for instance, save an animal.
In Europe, theses games first appeared in Germany. They are not yet the most common, but it's our responsability to play with this kind of games and to unfold cooperation instead of selfish behaviour.

Love is the only way ...
