Peace for the Soul

A common space for harmonic peacemakers

Question:Most of the time I feel that I am leading a hectic life. There is no peace of mind at all. Worldly life is full...sorrow & Many more....

Dear All,

One gets stronger not when one does not have problems, but when one boldly encounters and fights them. Problems are the gears to life.

When being chased by a dog an otherwise lethargic person, becomes more energetic and focuses all the energy in the escaping!!

Giving in to problems meekly is not the solution.

---- SRI. SRI.MURALIDHARA SWAMIJI

Most of the time I feel that I am leading a hectic life. There is no peace of mind at all. Worldly life is full of sorrows and hurdles. There isn't any recognition for truth and honesty now. Can a ascetic (Sanyasi) be happy from all these sorrows? At times I feel like taking up ascetic life. What should I do to get peace of mind? Please guide me.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

A devotee of Bhagavan Ramana used to frequent the Ashram. One day, suddenly he came to the ashram clad in ochre robes and was expecting some response from Bhagavan. Bhagavan as usual chose to remain silent. Unable to control himself, the devotee asked Bhagavan for his opinion on his switch of robes. Bhagavan smilingly says, " The attachment to white clothes has now become an attachment to the ochre robe! That's all!"

Just by changing your attire, your living area or your place of work, you don’t gain or lose anything. Even if a Sanyasi has a feeling 'I am a Sanyasi', then he is not a true Sanyasi because he still has a feeling of possession in his mind.

In one of his works, Bhagavan Ramana writes, "External appearance does not make one a householder or a monk. One whose mind wavers even a little is a householder indeed; and one whose mind rests in dynamic silence is verily a true ascetic."

So, don't think on these lines. These thoughts are nothing but mere emotions. Don’t give them any weight and jump to conclusions based on them. Act with 'viveka' (discrimination). Take a step back and look at each problem. If you look at the life histories of great people of the past, everyone had to go through sufferings and pain. Life is always a mixture of good and bad, joy and sorrow.

See everything with an optimistic outlook. Such times of sorrows are the best teachers. Instead of letting your mind lean towards the negative, take them to be the best learning opportunities in your life and utilize them.

The more you think about the world, the more your heart is filled with dirt and filth.

The more you bring Sri Krishna into your heart, the more it is filled with bliss and peace.

Try to shower your love on Sri Krishna. Surrender unto Him in your entirety and take all the happenings as His divine will. Continue to chant the Mahamantra with faith and devotion.

----------------------------------

How do I satisfy others by doing good? How much ever good I do, others expect more from me.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

If you do good, the world will demand more from you, without any limits. That is the nature of the world. You should continue to do good to the world to the extent possible.

--------------------------------------

I want to see God now! I want to attain realization! Is it possible?

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Yes it is possible. You should do the following things:

1. Forsake all worldly desires

2. Always think about the Lord

3. Develop divine love towards Him above anything else

4. Believe that He is always with you and aware of all your actions

You should attain such a stage that it is impossible for you to live without Him.

God is an ocean of compassion and mercy and love. Love that is shown to Him is reciprocated back multiple fold. If you take a step towards Him, He takes ten steps towards you.

Let God bless you with His darshan soon!

Bhagavatam says that the fetus is blessed with consciousness from the 7th month. How does growth take place without the Chaitanya in the baby's body until the seventh month? I have heard that it is only because of the Chaitanya that we are able to talk, hear, see, sense touches, digest food etc. Please clarify.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

The growing fetus is still an integral part of the mother's body, which possesses life and it is because of that the organs of the fetus develop.

I want to chant the Maha Mantra always. In the workplace I am not able to chant properly due to my work load. Still I think about Krishna. Please let me know a solution by which I can chant the Maha Mantra always.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

Chant it during your off-office hours. In due course, the Lord will enable you to chant it in your mind and still carry on with your work. You are indeed blessed to reminisce Krishna always. The lovable Lord Krishna will fill your heart with abundance of eternal pure love.

------------------------------------

I am chanting maha mantra and following a normal life. How long will it take to attain the Lord? I want to know whether these sufferings will be there in my whole life.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji:

You are already one among the blessed few, picked by the Lord Himself. Don't get bogged down by any troubles or sufferings on your path. It might be a test for your devotion and faith on the Almighty. Hold on to the Maha Mantra strongly and continue to chant it with the same love and devotion. A sparkling bright future awaits you if you remain steadfast in your chanting.
