Look at this face of HH as a child – powerful, compassionate, and beautiful. Yet, some believe compassion is weak and passive. Particularly when facing social and environmental injustice, it is quite the opposite. Under certain circumstances, we need to take forceful steps to counteract someone else's wrongdoing, but it's better done without anger. On the outside you appear tough and fierce, but on the inside there is understanding, love, and compassion. That will be more effective. When our mind is overwhelmed by a disturbing emotion like anger, the action we take may not be appropriate, and hence ineffective. Happy 4th of July --
