a Child of the Sun

a Child of the Sun

 

the beaming Sun

greeted me this morning

with love and forgiveness

 

he did not even mention

my trespasses of yesterday

nor the thought i now hold this day

that are not filled with his light

 

his smile ushered forth a true recognition

of my specialness

our specialness

as i struggled to attune myself

yes this morning

i am blessed

yet again

 

i was not alone

in the acknowledgement of life’s golden grandeur

there were the Mountains,

the Birds,

the Flowers

and countless other things

the Sun embraced

 

how could i justify

my embracing of dark things

on such a day as this

i am thankful

i am warmed

i am loved

 

as i begin to connect

to this wonderful exhibition

of life’s blessings

i begin to contemplate my coming day

but nothing seems to matter

for i am content to just sit here

and soak up the possibilities

of a better me

 

i smile

for with this simple gesture of consistency

i am confirmed

as the child i somehow always knew i was

a Child of the Sun
