A common space for harmonic peacemakers
In Tibetan, the word for meditation is ‘gom.’ It means to remember. To remember virtue instead of harm. Remembering virtue counters our tendency to respond with a knee-jerk dysfunctional reaction, like anger, jealousy, pride or insecurity. This is core Dharma practice. All our preconceived ideas, recognized and often unrecognized, get us and others in trouble. Recognizing these and eliminating them along with their subtle tendencies is a life(s)long practice. Remembering the antidotes to our negativity is quintessential. This includes our nearly ubiquitous delusions regarding ourselves and the world. Recognizing this state of delusion or ignorance of reality is not exclusive. Rather, it is common among all sentient beings including animals. Recognizing this commonality stirs a sense of concern for everyone. This concern grows into love and compassion, wishing them and us freedom from the bondage of ignorance. Based on this noble aspiration, we then act to break the bondage of delusion and ignorance for all. This is a complete practice. It incorporates wisdom and compassion to their highest forms. Emaho.
