Inner Transformation Series – 4 - Why Undergo Suffering? - Part-2

Dear All,

Contd from Part-1

Ashwatthama with a wicked intention, aimed a Brahmastra again, this time at Uttara's womb. Sri Krishna was at that time preparing to return home to Dwaraka. Uttara, who like the rest of her family knew that her sole refuge was Lord Krishna, came running to Him and surrendered at His Feet saying, "Oh Preceptor of the universe! The greatest of all Yogis! Please save me! Even if I can’t be saved it is okay. Please save the child in my womb."

Lord Sri Krishna Himself fought the Brahmastra and saved the child and the mother by His compassion and effulgence. Queen Kunti, the mother of the Pandavas, was watching all this. Many people will have troubles in
their life. But in the case of Kunti her entire life was a trouble.
Seeing all that happened, she came running to Lord Sri Krishna and with eyes filled with tears of joy she eulogized Him.

She said, "Krishna! I know you to be the Supreme person. Though you call me your aunt, I know you are that Supreme Being who is beyond the reach of mind, words and thoughts." Saying so, Kunti recollected all
the Lord's grace in her life with a heart filled with gratitude. She said, "My son Bheema (the second Pandava brother) was viewed with jealousy by Duryodhana and Duryodhana planned to have Bheema killed by
administering poison to him. But Krishna you saved him! Later the Kauravas wanted to burn all of us alive, but You saved us from that too. Yet again, during our stay in the forest, your grace protected us from all the dangers of the forest. Every time some great suffering comes my way, Krishna, I see that your Divine Grace protects me!"

Not stopping with this, Queen Kunti further submitted a very unique prayer at the Feet of the Lord—a prayer that will shock one and all. Why do people usually pray? The Lord himself says, in the Gita, that there are four categories of people who pray – "chaturvida bhajantey mam jana: sukrutinorjuna". What are the four categories? The aartha – one who wants to end his suffering , the arthaarthi – one who wants a better standard of life, the mumukshu – one who wants to be out of this cycle of birth and death, and the jnani – one who loves the Lord for
His sake alone and desires nothing of this world or the next. These are the four who worship and pray to the Lord.

But Kunti Devi's prayer does not fall into any of these categories. She prays, "Krishna! I have seen clearly that every time some great suffering comes my way, your grace protects me. Thus I am the one who is most sorrowed by the loss of Duryodhana. As long as he was alive he continuously gave me suffering. And every time trouble came my way, I would be reminded of You. I would pray to You. Immediately Your Divine grace would be with me and protect me. Those times, I would feel our relationship become stronger. But now that Duryodhana has passed away I do not know if troubles will come anymore. I feel I do not remember you as much while I am happy as when I am suffering. Thus I pray Krishna, please give me a lot of troubles. For I am afraid I might forget you when I am happy. But when troubles come, I certainly think of You deeply and pray wholeheartedly. So give me such troubles that will inspire me to think of You alone and pray to you. The more I think of You in my prayers and chant Your Names, my mind will be naturally purified and I will be saved from another birth. Thus I pray give me lot of troubles."
