Peace for the Soul

A common space for harmonic peacemakers

Two days ago was the full moon 15th day of Saga Dawa, the day 2600 years ago that Shakyamuni Buddha was both born and enlightened, 35 years later. I know everyone has and is trying hard during this Saga Dawa month to avoid harm, even little harms. On top of that, I know everyone has been practicing love and compassion as much as possible. Where did you find obstacles to practicing love and compassion? Sometimes it is easier said than done. Did your negative emotions get in the way? Did you find that going through the motions of being compassionate was at times without feeling, more like a robot? Did skillful means get in the way, not knowing exactly what to do to help? Wanting to help and really helping are at times disconnected. Was this a challenge? What were the other challenges you faced and are facing while trying to improve your compassion? Did you notice old ways of thinking getting in the way? Please share your experience succinctly. Emaho!
