One of the greatest humanitarians alive, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, teaches, “in today’s materialistic world there is a risk of people becoming slaves to money, as though they were simply cogs in a huge money-making machine. This does nothing for human dignity, freedom, and genuine wellbeing. Wealth should serve humanity, and not the other way around.” Human dignity, freedom, and wellbeing are valuable measures of human civilization and progress. Yesterday was International Meditation Day, paying tribute to human dignity, freedom, and wellbeing. Regular meditation helps us identify our negative emotions and thoughts and transform them into their healthy positive opposites: anger into patience, jealousy into appreciation, arrogance into humility, and insecurity into healthy self-confidence. Practicing emotional hygiene reduces our ego and negativity, while enhancing our love and wisdom. Happy International Meditation Day! Emaho!
