A common space for harmonic peacemakers
.
Coleman Barks, the famed Rumi translator, has passed away to the Eternal realm.
No one has done more to bring the souls of so many people to Rumi’s teachings. Inna lilah wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
I know some will want to have a discussion of the accuracy of Coleman’s versions (I am myself writing a book on that topic). For now I simply want to honor and mourn a gentle and beautiful man I was honored to call a friend.
Take a moment to cherish one of the poems that has meant much to you, and send a prayer to Coleman’s soul
Rest in power. Rest in beauty. Rest in love.
