Dharma is a matter of profound radical paradigm shift. Our whole being takes on a new dimension. The fundamentals change. Our whole raison d'etre shifts as our world shifts away from constantly satisfying number, me, me, and me. More and more our daily decisions and actions become part of a bigger integrated much more meaningful purpose. This brings contentment on one hand. And responsibility on the other. His Holiness the Dalai Lama sent me out to teach about 18 years ago. Several years later I went back to him. I told him many teaching opportunities were growing while the overwhelming feedback has brought tears to my eyes. Yet, I was not sure how much real benefit was entering peoples’ lives. He looked at me and paused, as he is prone to do. Then he confirmed that I was doing my best. Then with much power in his voice, he told that’s all we can do. THAT’S ALL WE CAN DO! It was such an amazing teaching which has continued bringing me joy to this day as I continue doing my best teaching, giving it my all. There is contentment and healthy self-confidence that comes from his profound support. So, the responsibility that comes with this profound radical paradigm shift way of living is not something that disturbs my sleep, at least not very often. We are unimaginably fortunate to live at a time when such a great transcendent being is also alive. Emaho!
