"Psychiatry in the Soul"

What I love about this image is the way it combines Nature with peaceful human activity, which has created a sense of protection and warmth, a sanctuary, or sacred space in which soul can thrive . . .

Even in your hardest times, you chose to keep growing, quietly but surely. It wasn’t easy, but step by step you found your way through, proving to yourself that you could handle the storms. No-one can take away the strength you’ve earned.

I believe in the kind of love that doesn't demand me to prove my worth and sit in anxiety.

I crave a natural connection, where my soul is able to recognise a feeling of home in another.
Something free-flowing, something simple.
Something that allows me to be me without question.

Don’t ever wish for another’s pain in their heart to go away.
Don’t try to fix or remove it, or hurry it away. Don’t wish for them to be just happy, over it; okay.

For this pain holds essential truth for them. It holds the very seeds of the healing their soul needs, even if they don’t consciously know that themselves. At some deep unfathomable level, in a place that’s unseen and unknown, a quiet wisdom is working away, sowing the necessary seedlings for that person’s soul’s next steps.

Their pain IS the essential soil of that healing. So to wish it away or gone or over already, is to stop growth in its tracks. Everyone’s soul works on its own time. It must never be hurried or denied. Honouring this simple yet profound truth is the best type of support you can give to someone in pain. To be a solid yet soft presence in their life, holding consistent attention and love for them, is the most “doing” you ever need to offer them as they journey forward at their own pace and in their own way.

Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.

There comes a time in your life when the life you have been living is over and you have no clue who you are becoming.

The greatest defeat is not the end of a relationship . . . it’s the unwillingness to learn from it. Most love relationships end, yet the opportunities for growth live on. We have been conditioned to believe that endings are failures, but they are not. At this stage of human development, it’s all we can do to manage our own issues, let alone unite happily with another. We still have so much to learn about how to sustain love. The real victory is growing through the experience, clarifying and healing our issues, converting the unresolved material into the transformation at its heart. Relational success is not a tangible outcome - it’s a process of awakening. If the experience grew you, if it prepared you for a more heartfelt and awakened life, it was a true victory.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? . . . . Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you . . . . It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

It is a most painful procedure to tear off those veils, but each step forward in psychological development means just that, the tearing off of a new veil. We are like onions with many skins, and we have to peel ourselves again and again to get to the real core.

Sometimes you just need to talk about something, not to get sympathy or help, but just to kill its power by allowing the truth of things to hit the air.
