Scientific explanation (photography): They are often blur artifacts caused by dust, rain, or insects that are very close to the camera lens and reflect the light (often infrared). They occur more frequently with digital compact cameras because the flash and lens are close together.

Spiritual interpretation: Proponents of this view see orbs as energy phenomena or messengers making contact.

They are described as luminous spheres that appear near people, often in connection with locations where paranormal activity is suspected.

Comment by Eva Libre yesterday: Orbs can appear in different shapes and formations and have varying characteristics. They can vary showing patterns, ‘faces’, light rays, they can be different colours, sizes and when looking at their form, you may be able to ‘feel’ the different energy they bring too.
