Love Should Feel Good

Real love feels good and uplifting — not jealous or anxious — and does not compromise who you are as a person.

Often in our lives, we fall prey to the idea of something rather than actually experiencing the thing itself. We see this at play in our love lives and in the love lives of our friends, our family, and even fictional characters. The conceptualizing, depiction, and pursuit of true love are multimillion-dollar industries in the modern world. However, very little of what is offered leads us to an authentic experience of love. 

When we feel anxious, excited, nervous, and thrilled, we are probably experiencing romance, not love. Romance can be a lot of fun as long as we do not try to make too much of it. Romance may lead to love, but it may also fade without blossoming into anything more than a flirtation. If we cling to it and try to make it more than it is, we might find ourselves pining for a fantasy, or worse, stuck in a relationship that was never meant to last. 

Real love is identifiable by the way it makes us feel. Love should feel good. There is a peaceful quality to an authentic experience of love that penetrates to our core, touching a part of ourselves that has always been there. True love activates this inner being, filling us with warmth and light. An authentic experience of love does not ask us to look a certain way, drive a certain car, or have a certain job. It takes us as we are, no changes required. When people truly love us, their love for us awakens our love for ourselves. They remind us that what we seek outside of ourselves is a mirror image of the lover within. In this way, true love never makes us feel needy or lacking or anxious. Instead, true love empowers us with its implicit message that we are, always have been, and always will be made of love.

this is a great post that focuses on Love. The word is so overused and misunderstood that we put the word 'true' in front of it but we don't realise the meaning of true.. it is not 'romance or lust or like a lot' it is the real transcendence of the self's own necessary ego. It is the true realization of the divine to be discovered within all of us. The knowledge of true Love is the purpose of our lives. The fulfilment of our life. There is not a scintilla  of doubt when that transcendence is granted to us. We all long for the knowledge and ongoing experience  of it.

 just a few more words to add to the above comment. i am asked what i mean by the word 'transcendence' and it means 'going beyond' or going thru'. So how is it done when talking about our necessary ego? I see the ego is provided for us all not to destroy or supress but to transcend. Our ideas and beliefs all have to be abandoned and left behind in pursuit of true Love or true Peace. Its the work of the time we are given in our life.

  Like if we are to have a bath we must first take off our clothes and get naked. The challenge is that we get three steps forward then go two steps back so the process takes our time and that is what time is for. Most will say that they don't have the time but time won't have us shortly. Later will  never come so its really Now or as they say 'never.' To know Peace is essential or we cannot trust. Peace or Love is the only thing that is trustworthy and without knowing we are always going to flounder around. I am able to express it most succinctly with poetry. As Charles Bukowski said 'poetry is what happens when nothing else can.'  So i wish you well in this grand endeavour and sign off with my poem Meditation.

 drinking from the silent spring 

spontaneous awakening 

no thought allowed and no belief

naked now devoid of grief 

hungrily quenching the hidden thirst

expunging now the very worst 

then left behind and all unsaid 

freedom dawns 

all demons dead.
