Story :
"Nights in White Satin" is a classic ballad written by Justin Hayward and released by the English rock band The Moody Blues in 1967.
Meaning & Themes
The song explores intense themes of deep love, passion, longing, and existential angst. Written by Hayward when he was just 19 after receiving a gift of satin sheets, the lyrics reflect on love letters never sent, truth vs. perception, and the overwhelming feeling of watching life go by while yearning for connection. The orchestral arrangement and melancholic wind parts amplify its dreamlike, emotional tone.
Key Quote
"Nights in white satin,
Never reaching the end,
Letters I've written,
Never meaning to send."

He composed more than 11 songs just for me, as he was fascinated by the sound of the Bamboo flute. Ten of them have been made into music videos.
