Mindful Eating Through Menopause

Simple, delicious foods can nourish your well-being, igniting transformation and joy in some of the most unexpected ways.

For so many of us, menopause brings a curious and tender shift. Excess weight begins to accumulate around the midsection. Our favorite clothes fit differently. And the practices that used to help us lose those last 5 or 10 pounds no longer work in the same way. All of this can leave us feeling frustrated and disheartened.

And yet, research shows that even small, thoughtful changes can make a real difference. In one recent study of postmenopausal women, researchers found that when the women ate nourishing, calorie-conscious foods, it helped reduce their visceral fat by about 12 percent in just 16 weeks. When movement was added, the results were even greater.

Every woman’s experience is her own, but there is comforting hope found in knowing that we can still reach our health goals — not through punishment or deprivation, but through a gentler partnership with our bodies. More protein. Fiber-rich fruits and vegetables. Nutritious whole foods. Fewer highly processed choices. Small acts of care, repeated over time, can become a new rhythm of well-being — a continual transformation that can ignite joy in some of the most unexpected ways.
