The workshop will be run by Professor Patricia Rogers and will take place in Berne at the Federal Office of Personnel, Eigerstrasse 71.
Many programs and projects do not have the characteristics that traditional evaluation addresses – they often do not have fixed objectives identified in advance, do not have agreed implementation processes but instead need to change throughout their lifetime in response to emerging challenges and opportunities, especially those presented by a changing cast of partners and stakeholders. In recent years there has been increasing interest in applying ideas from complexity science to evaluation to address these challenges. There have also been concerns about the practicality of doing this.
This two-day workshop will
1. Outline the different aspects of complexity that evaluation might need to address, distinguishing what is complex (emergent) from what is complicated (many component.
2. Introduce examples of evaluations that have used various strategies and approaches to address complex issues –(developmental evaluation etc.
3. Explore workshop questions, practical problems and examples from the group.
The program will involve a combination of presentations, discussion, and exercises. There will be time to ask questions and time to apply the ideas to your own examples.
This practice-based workshop will equip participants with techniques to identify different aspects of complexity in their evaluations and how to address them.
Registration is now open on-line at: http://de.amiando.com/WEJXWVB
The detailed 2-day programme will be available from April 1 and the deadline for registration is April 30th.
Fees for the both the above 2-day workshop are CHF650.00 for SEVAL members and CHF700.00 for non members, exclusive of travel and meals. (Promotional Code for SEVAL members is SEVAL2014)
