Peace for the Soul

A common space for harmonic peacemakers

.
I sit because you taught me to
I sit because I know I must
I sit for me
.
I sit to find out who I am
I sit because it is my practice
I sit to remember
.
I sit because all the pots and pans would get me
I sit until I find buried smiles
I sit in preparation
.
I sit so I can love you
I sit to see what God is
I sit like a fish
.
I sit to seek out secrets
I sit because I am able to
I sit to work out my soul
.
I sit as an offering
because you are my mother
because you are my brother
because you are my friend
.
I sit because the whisper of Gandhi's spinning wheel
I sit because the sound of a beat harmonium
because in winter there is a fringe of ice over the roses
because our bodies are made of stardust
because of the glinting net
because I have a short spiritual foot
because I have a long materialistic foot
because I walk with a limp
because again and again the sun rises glowing the fruits on the pear tree
because one day I will be long forgotten
because I must pay attention
