Peace for the Soul

A common space for harmonic peacemakers

Dear All,

Chapter VII: 28-30

But those men of virtuous deeds whose sins have come to an end, and who are freed from the delusion of the pairs of opposites, worship me, steadfast in their vows.

Those who strive for liberation from old age and death, taking refuge in me, realize in full that Brahman, the complete knowledge of the self and all action.

Those who know me with the adhibhuta (pertaining to the elements), adhidaiva (pertaining to the gods) and the adhiyajna (pertaining to sacrifice), know me even at the time of departure from this world, steadfast in mind.

Commentary

The vision of God cannot be obtained unless the heart and mind are made completely pure through perfectly ethical and moral conduct, when sinful tendencies have been totally overcome. A man meditating on the form of his guru without forgetting the ideal he stands for, grows in the virtues of the guru. Through worship of the various manifestations of the Lord, much virtue is gained and sinfulness ceases.

There is no effort, even, to abandon sinfulness (such effort would likely become the seed of future sin - arrogance). Sinfulness has to drop away. It is not possible to acquire virtue, to abandon wickedness or to grow in humility. When the right vision is acquired, these happen automatically. Till then, one must strive to grow in virtue and reduce wickedness by all means. Virtue and God-realization are simultaneous, without the relationship of cause and effect.

God is the very essence and soul of this material universe. He is the basis of whatever concepts of God each one of us may have (however diverse these may be), and the spirit whose supreme sacrifice constitutes creation. Such a homogeneous and comprehensive truth can only be grasped when the mind is steady and the heart absolutely pure. In that transparent heart the light of God is truly reflected. May we all enjoy that vision in this very birth.

Namaste Eva,

Why not all born with 6th sense are capable to achieve this... Infact it is our birth right...we are born to attain this only...

Me too, Ravishankar and Eva.

Om shanti Om

I would like to comment on sinfulness.  As our true spiritual nature is one with all things, we are created whole.

We are spiritually created, ( it does not matter how ) already one with the Universe, our true home.

When we separate ourselves from this,  this is the equivalent of sin. But really, this is just a learning lesson. No matter how we THINK we are separated ,  we cant really be separate from our Soul, or true spiritual self.  This is because we are a Soul in a physical body, and not a physical body with a soul.

What we are doing with Spiritual growth, is refining this vibration.   Our True feelings, are one with all things,  and will tell us where we are, and it is important to ask ourselves , how do I feel about this action I am about to do. These decisions we make decide whether  we must do this experience again.

In loving service to all.

The sinful deeds which men commit are mainly due to ignorance. When ignorance vanishes once and for all by performance of good and selfless deeds, Japa, etc., or by Guru's grace, the final goal ever remains in view.

However every man has not sprung up all on a sudden as a man. The soul, right from the very first ushering into the world, continues to undergo the cycle of births and deaths not in tens, hundreds or thousands, but in lakhs.

It actually carries with it the past conditioning right from its very first birth up to the birth current, i.e., under enjoyment.

The unenjoyed or residual Samskaras continue till they are completely fried in toto by wisdom.

The very forgetfulness of death by man, though he sees countless deaths daily, indicates the nescience that has developed in him to avoid seeing the face of Truth. The experiences that he has gained thus far, i.e., up to the moment of consideration, are quite insufficient to drag his attention towards the eternal truth which is God. A day will certainly dawn in the life of every individual on this earth, not necessarily in this very birth itself, when he will, by some rare merit, through divine company with saints, devotion to Guru, or God’s grace, tune in to the Ultimate by gradual evolution.
