There’s one word that everyone should know and treasure

Hold in reverence for life long companionship and pleasure

Even on the darkest days when pain and distress abound

Family is the one word that can bring a comforting sound

All can benefit if they simply recall their sister & brother

The real world is different for those born within strife,

if they are lucky they may grow to become husband or wife,

but for many, boy soldiers is what they were forced to become,

only eleven years old, but still their burden is to carry a gun.



How many live long enough to know that there are other ways,

within another country they wouldn't have been made military slaves.

Are there men with the courage to stop all the rape and slaughter,

does no one there…

All The Love In The World



I would like to live long enough to one day see,

the many people in this world sharing harmony,

caring for all, not just those they see each day,

sharing all their burdens freely and also some play.



Will it take a millenium or more to reach that state,

or can we wake everyone to take this dream and make,

a world fit for our brothers and sisters wherever born,

let them have water to drink, and enough fruit and…

Assimilate, but don't imitate,

absorb the goodness that you see,

rejecting all the bad ways of hate,

assured we can do better if we only try.



Let us live within each others eyes,

see the world as one united soul,

never more to clash with futile sighs,

for we can do so much better as a whole...



Move ever forward into clear days of hope,

trusting in the one inescapable fact

that we all depend upon the depth and scope

We gather here to say 

Let's act together as if 

 We're one big family today 

For all our children's futures

Should be held in our own hands

Not bartered by some business

Or maimed by armies on our lands

This world is large but finite

We have no more room to grow

The food we need for all to eat

Must come from what we sow

And if we divert our efforts

In this muddled, fuddled world of ours, where peace is all too often lost,
men aim to win the wars they wage, though most will lose and rue the cost,
leaving few marks behind to endure beyond the headstones of their graves.
But with the gift of kinship so much more can be had if we strive to save
and share the sparse resources at hand, not throw ever more away,
with little consideration of the needs of new generations on the way....

People are in pain wherever we look,

Egypt, now Libya, isn't it time we took,

the time to send a message to all in power,

to say that injustice must end this very hour...

 

There is misery enough in the world already,

Haiti, now New Zealand, bear a toll so heavy,

just from disasters that mankind didn't make,

why let more suffer for some dictators sake?

 

Every year we hear more of disastrous floods,

I am a rebel against torture



I am a rebel against pain



I seek an end to hunger



I seek an end to the shame





The shame that comes from knowing



all those children die without water



all those children die without names



all those children die from war





Why do men play their viscious games



why do those men pretend to serve God

Sure I don't have so many answers

and I'll never know it all that's true

but if you want I'll share what little I have

for sharing is what I know we all need to do



Add all our answers together

with all the questions we must ask

far too much for a solo my friends

joined hands must complete this task



Love and flowers ruled the sixties

that scheme was drowned by the flood

when drugs made so many minds weak

Walk boldy to my dreams at night,

take my hand and hold on tight,

let us travel in ways that days deny,

no costs to consider, even if we fly



Our passports will be of pure fantasy,

universal visas will permit every destiny,

just as man should always be,

free to roam, forever free



Cast off all constraints within our minds,

seek and find and meet folk who are kind,

then take that dream back into day

and ask all why we cannot live… Continue

Let us all gather here once again,

in the name of peace not shame,

strive to build new bonds not bombs

to see if we can carry more along

with us as we ask all those around,

can't we agree on some common ground?



For every peaceful act from any one

can atone for some violent one now gone,

a better way to bring an end to strife,

than to take revenge on another life.



All lost lives are now beyond our reach

so let them rest I do… Continue

West whispers that come from the few,

take an overpowering view,

fanned by media and political spin,

but do they reflect honesty within?



Eastern breezes carry some hard

words in anguish from souls so marred

by turmoils begun long, long before,

many deep wounds from a distant shore.



Healing won't come from more bullets and knives,

that only ever leaves more grieving mothers and wives

There came a man to remember

Not like those who had passed by before

Some twenty centuries later

His words remain hard to ignore

For the many faithful all around this world

His teachings will ever endure

So whilst I may remain a humanist

I offer respect to those who fully embrace

Rather than the evils that they displace
