COP 30 in Brazil is attempting to draft binding resolutions

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has the genius to see detailed interconnections that others miss. He also has the breadth and wide perspective to see the big pictures more precisely and accurately than others. He teaches, “We are the only species with the power to destroy the earth and also the capacity to protect it.” Coming from someone with prescience (foreknowledge), this is very telling. It seems clear that we are currently on the path of destroying the earth as we know it. Biodiversity is shrinking rapidly. The oceans are heating. Glaciers are melting. Extreme weather patterns causing disastrous fires and floods are exponentially stronger and happening more often. All due primarily from the increasing CO2 in the environment, resulting from the continued burning of fossil fuels. It may be oversimplifying, but much of this comes down to selfishness and greed. Time is running out. We must bring compassion and concern for the wellbeing of others, including our children and their children, much more into the spotlight in our everyday interactions, and public policy. COP 30 in Brazil is attempting to draft binding resolutions winding down the burning of fossil fuels, but struggling to gain concensus. We can do this if the will is there. We need to bring the risk benefit analysis of burning or not burning fossil fuels back into everyday parlance. Doing so, climate change will become a powerful factor in the voting booth. Emaho!
