the Promise

[Bill]

 

the promise

 

the promise

hidden in the fruit

loosed fear

upon the consciousness

 

the four rivers

could not wash it away

 

though the light was on

and we saw all we needed

the dark offered more

 

we toiled the soil

earnestly

but the fruit

did not satisfy

 

we adopted ritual

in hopes to evoke

an awakening

an understanding

of how to retrace our paths

back

 

we saw the Fire Bush

that still burns

within the essence

of our yearning

for eternity

and we feel the calling

 

the golden thread

is not found

in the Temple of Bricks and Mortar

go ye to the Temple of Breath

 

burn the dross

worry not the cost

of losing one’s self

for in the center of your garden

likes the promise
