Peace for the Soul

A common space for harmonic peacemakers

We are very sad to hear the sudden demise of former political prisoner “Palden Gyatso” . He spent his whole life advocating for Tibet and showing world the real face of Chinese occupation of “Tibet”.

One of the most well known former Tibetan political prisoners and activist has passed away at the Delek Hospital in Dharamshala at 7:10 am local time today (November 30, 2018). He was 87 years old.

Gyatso who spent 33 years in Chinese prison and concentration camps in occupied Tibet said earlier that he was suffering from weakness and liver-related complications since the last few months. The veteran figure in the Tibetan movement was suffering from liver cancer, Phayul has learned.

“I am happy and blessed to have lived this long. I was blessed in prison as well when I almost starved to death but survived unlike many of my friends who died in front of me,” he told Phayul two weeks ago.

What a life!...So much sacrifice and suffering of many monks for Tibet and all remains the same.

Dear friends, Never give up, Tibet needs you. "You are all the future of Tibet." ~ Ven Palden Gyatso ~ "I have lived my life for the cause of Tibet. Now the responsibility rests on the shoulders of the younger generation of Tibetans. You are all the future of Tibet. I will pray for you all."

With great gratitude and homage for Palden Gyatso (1933 - 2018) a life of nonviolent resistance.
