i sought you thru' the pathways

of my days and nights

i looked for you before i looked for you

before, i looked for you

and there fell upon my heart

the promise of your coming to my life

 

and when you came you  brought with you

the question of the light

and distinguishing the morning

makes a difference in the bosom of the night

when dawning is a bud still wrapped up tight.

 

first i see the pale outline of your being

then more clearly now

i know this is no dream

all around the magic is at hand

and foot and where i stand

my own eyes see now the early morning land

 

dew trembles with expectancy and song

whose birds now chorus out the voice

to break the night apart

welcoming along the coming of the sun

of life and all there is to see

 

dancing without movement in the light..
