To sweeten your food, surely opt for traditional white sugar or artificial sugars like aspartame, cyclamate and saccharin. But maybe you're not so aware that they can be harmful to health : diabetes and obesity are diseases that arise as a result of excess sugar.

A great idea to take care of your body is to reduce the amount of sugar you eat or to change your habits by substituting natural sweeteners . Besides being a far healthier , provide vitamins and minerals .

What are natural sweeteners ? Meet them below.

The honey . It should ingest in small quantities as it contains almost twice as sweet as sugar. Either way, it is natural and contains vitamins, minerals , amino acids and proteins.

The raw sugar cane . Is extracted from sugar cane (no chemical processing and refining) and has calcium, iron, phosphorus and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and E.

Fructose . Is present in fresh fruits and vegetables, it helps to have better digestion and is a great source of energy. However, avoid large quantities because they can raise the level of cholesterol.

Maple syrup . Obtained from the sap of maple and is very beneficial because it provides far fewer calories than sugar and honey , and it is easier to digest than cane sugar. It also has minerals such as calcium, iron and potassium.

Stevia . It is the choice for diabetics because it has an active ingredient, stevioside, which acts on the pancreas and helps to secrete insulin, so that does not alter the levels of blood sugar. Paraguay is a plant that also has many benefits: it improves the metabolism, aids digestion and weight loss, regulates the stomach acidity, fights bacteria, regulates the functioning of the heart and helps the skin cicatricación and prevention wrinkles.

Malts . Have protein and minerals and their processing is natural (we speak of the wheat malt as rice or barley) as carbohydrates are converted to maltose, which is composed of glucose. But take care that no residual pesticides.

The fruit dried . Put the fruit in the open or within the furnace helps eliminate fluid and enhances its sweet taste.
