Rosemary is one of the oldest incense plants
Rosemary is one of the oldest incense plants. It was often used as a substitute for frankincense. In earlier times, rosemary was a staple at every funeral. This beautiful plant spirit is the "pagan" counterpart to the boxwood of the Christians. Burning rosemary as incense is entirely about farewell and mourning. Its essence guides us through the labyrinth of grief and loss. Its smoke contains powerful cleansing energies. Therefore, rosemary is also suitable for cleansing houses with incense. In the past, sickrooms were cleansed with rosemary and juniper to promote faster recovery.
